Relay For Life Closing Ceremony 2011- $369,069 USD Raised!

RFL has been blogged, Flickr'd and talked about for months, actually year round in SL, as this is an annual HUGE fundraiser. But I decided to go ahead and blog it one more time since it's such an amazing fundraiser that helps so many people in real life plus they said there were over 178 people in the area of the closing ceremony. They had 24 hours of entertainment at the RFL general track area, amazing builds, inspirational volunteers and today the closing ceremony. Thank yous were made and shout outs given to the main supporters. Team campsite awards were given out.

There were 42 sims and many builds on the sims and track area. BOSL won first place in one of the best campsite build categories. Most laps award went to jerrazia Lowel. (I'm sure I totally spelled that name wrong and they didn't say how many laps which I wonder about) MamaP Beerbaum and Dwen Dooly, organizers spoke along with others. There was a table onstage with an empty chair representing the lost ones. Honor was giving to their struggles and memory. The 2011 theme was "Seasons of Hope" and at the close of the ceremony it was stated 369,062 USD was raised by the close. Fantastic SL people.. who says we are just gamers... we are people with heart!

Summer On The Boardwalk, Adopt A Family Summer Fundraiser July 8 through 6pm SLT July 10

This event is fun for the whole family and for a good cause. I stopped in this morning to ride a few rides and enjoy some sites including a huge water tube water slide type ride, roller coaster, ferris wheels, bumper cars, fun house, gorgeous carousal, THE BIG DROP,(fun!), hot dogs, cotton candy, games and tons of prizes and much more. They also have a celebrity dunk tank that seems to be the big crowd pleaser. Some of the dunkees include: Frolic Mills, Dousa Dragonash of Metaverse Television, Supermodel Wicca Merlin, BlackBarbie Braven, Kay Fairey, Ji Nirvana, Yula Finesmith, Jessica Lyon, Honeybear Lillihook, Fauve Beaumont, Miaa Rebane, Edi Clarity, Serene Faith, Miaa Rebane, and many more.

The area has a staged fashion show area featuring Miss Virtual World 2011 Serene Faith, 2010 Miaa Rebane, and 2009 Mimmi Boa modeling exclusive gowns by Hox that are up for auction, gorgeous jewels by Finesmith, hair by 3636 and bathing suits by Shan SL.

Sunday is live music day beginning with Avantguard Frequency and ending with the amazing Miss Katia Keres ! Many mre to fill up in between .... so don't miss this weekend of fun to raise money for needy families this coming holiday season!

And like I said.. all this fun for a good cause. AAF (Adopt A Family) is hosting the Summer on the Boardwalk fundraiser benefit. Organized by Lacie Beninborough, AAF began in November of 2009, when it was brought to her attention that a family was in very dire need that year. They were in jeopardy of losing everything, the husband had just lost his job and the mother had two chronically ill children. The information note card states, "This is where AAF comes in. Our sole purpose is to help those that are struggling financially get through the holiday season. We have fundraisers throughout the year and raise money to be given out at the beginning of December.
We do our very best to ensure that the people we help are truly in need." There is a large Christmas fundraiser planned for This year to take place at the Patch Thibaud Auditorium at BOSL on December 19,2011 @ 4 pm slt. "Do not miss this spectacular show with gorgeous gowns by HOX. Hosted by Lacie Beningborough and Mr. Frolic Mills, this is an event that you do not want to miss!"

BOSL Browns Are in The Playoffs-Get Tickets for Sunday

Woot! The BOSL Browns are on a roll. The Browns made it to the play offs and Sunday, June 5th we were scheduled to play our first playoff game. The guys had been practising and the cheerleaders made a perfect run through of our half time routine prior to the scheduled game time then hit the sidelines to rev up the large crowd of fans that showed up. But after a short delay we were told the Browns were given the win, as the opposing team forfeited due to lack of enough players for the day. Tickets were refunded so I hope all those people get tickes for this Sunday's game. This was not our ideal way to win, but hey, we get to advance! Woot! Persia Bravin's Rez Day & May Costa Rica Influential Party

Sunday, May 29th I attended a party for one of SL's favorite media sweetie's, Persia Bravin! She was celebrating her selection as the May Costa Rica Influential and also her rez day. I think everyone in SL knows Persia, so I won't go on and on about all her accomplishments and tons of things she is involved in, as it's all over the web and I've mentioned her here several times before as well. I just wanted to save and post a few pics from her party here. The party was a smash with over 70 attendees, full at times, and constantly hopping with dj tunes by Mikee Gemini Ghost who was actually celebrating his RL birthday that day as well. It's notable Persia's actual rez day was June 1st (I think, that's close anyway). It's also notable that Blackbarbie Bravin, another of BOSL's gems who also helps run the magazine along with Persia celebrates her rez day the day after Persia, so wish them both a good one!


The beach themed party Sunday was mostly casual and swimwear at a spot in Alajuela, Costa Rica sim. Some of the many attendees were Claus Uriza, Candylicious Forster, LaPiscean Liberty, Ivy Maverick, Leila Roddenham, Dividni Shostakovich, Kikki Snowpaw, Lacy Muircastle and many others. I had a great time, but had to go RL, so I snapped some pics, wished Persia well, danced a few songs and said my hellos and goodbyes. Darn I missed the mud wrestling!

BOSL CEO/Founder, Frolic Mills, 4th Rez Day Party

Yesterday, May 28th, I attended the 4th rez day party for Mr. Frolic Mills. Frolic is BOSL CEO and Founder, owner of the BOSL Browns, the football team my cheer leading squad is owned by and also my boss at BOSL. The event was held at the Patch Thibaud auditorium to a crowd of over 50 and the show lineup was a list of Broadway hits.


One of the highlights for me was enjoying the talent of real life Broadway artist Tamra Hayden, known as Tamra Sands in SL, who has held lead roles in blockbusters such as Les Miserables, Cabaret, Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler On the Roof and others. I honestly was very happily surprised to learn of and hear her and kept asking myself and others around me, "Where did she come from?", as I've never seen her in SL before and her voice was so very very impressive. Other performers included one of my favorite SL dance troupes, The Dramatiques, which I have blogged a couple of times before here. Jesse Ribeiro, also a RL musician, composer, vocalist, and producer, recently bringing his music into SL, performed as well.

Various Broadways musicals were performed at the party with props, costumes, beautiful backgrounds, dances, and music including numbers from The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Grease, The Lion King, West Side Story, Tommy, Evita and more.

The party ended with Mr. Mills, performers, and guests dancing on the stage. As expected when it involves Frolic Mills and BOSL, the party was something special in SL to remember.

Club IX

Monday night April 25th was the one year anniversary party celebration of Club Nine's opening April 26th a year ago. Owner, Umberto Giano, celebrated along with a huge crowd. There were many high quality name brand free gifts and amazing drawing prizes throughout the night. Dj's Bren Betts and Azu Catteneo kept the tunes and crowd pumping. The gogo dancers lined the bar for some eye candy and the crowd was having a blast. SFL League Games -Get Your Tickets Now!

The SFL (Second Football League) was off to a great start last weekend after a somewhat lengthy pre-season. If you have been following my blog you will know that my original co-owners split and eventually disbanded following a merg. Our original team has kind of scattered to the wind but I think that was not uncommon as pre-season sorted out. The remaining 13 teams have worked hard and their time and practice should show that.

SFL Player's Club Party

BOSL 2010 Fashion Week Sept 18-25

Where but Second Life can just about anyone afford, fit, or even make the most fashionable clothes ever imagined? Granted we can’t all make the impressive designs showcased this week, but the designers have gone all out this year for an impressive showing. The Best of Second Life Fashion week is well under way with the Kickoff Saturday September 18th at Milky House showcasing gorgeous Japanese Kimonos in a quaint Japanese setting located in Insilico. The shows run daily now through Saturday Septembur the 25th at 10 am SLT which will be a tribute to Yves Saint Laurent in the Renaissance Galleria.

Sunday the 19th provided attendees at the Chateau Versaile with an eye feast of Haute Couture collections featuring gowns from some of the best designers in SL as the models glided down a corded off strip surrounded by onlookers. Of course I tp'd in right on top of the models as usual. I have to question why that always happens to me and wonder if my subconscious self wants to model these cool clothes or something. Monday provided attendees a look at the urban collection for the streets of Second Life exhibited at Couture Boulevard.


Tuesday I was in for a treat as the show was right up my alley presenting Mea Culpa Fantasy Couture in a glamorous setting at the Mexico Distrito. Spectators sat in the floral and grassy knoll or in rustic wooden bench seating amongst greenery and flying Akasha. VIPS including Brett Linden stood across the water in elaborate building doorways and window balconies. Models emerged from a magical veil of greenery that gave the appearance of walking downhill from a forest pathway to the stairs that led to the runway surrounded by water, waterfalls, mystical lights and magical surroundings. The musical selections added a dramatic touch with fitting songs like Mea Culpa, and a ET remix giving the whole event an almost surreal feel that was fitting for the exotic outfits the models displayed. The Mea Culpa designs provided attendees a pallet of unique and beautiful outfits that ranged from mermaid style all the way to the almost demonic. Even Frolic Mills participated in this event.

Wednesday the 22d provided a look at the Vintage Collection in all the splendor of the 20s at the impressive Patch Thibald Auditorium. It’s always fun to see the audience get in the spirit, many of which showed up in vintage designs themselves.


Thursday was The American Graffiti show at 4pm SLT. I also really enjoyed this show and dancing 50's sock hop style afterward with the models. The guys and gals showed off, some of them skating in, retro clothes such at poodle skirts, saddle shoes and bobbie socks, leather jackets, cool shades and various other styles and fun hair from the 50's look all set in a cafe/soda shop with drive in setting.

There is still plenty to look forward to as Friday will be the Black and White new collection at Couture Blvd. Saturday September 25th at 10 am SLT will wrap up the week with the Tribute to Yves Saint Laurent. The date and time change was done so that many more people can enjoy it and also so that Metaverse TV can film it. This promises to be a show not to be missed presenting 25 brand new Yves Saint Laurent inspired couture dresses that will take your breath away by the 3 time winner, Miss Nish Mip. There will be engineered lighting and Soleil will perform live. Miss Azul, 2010 Contest

Today the Miss Azul pre-finalists presented themselves to the judges and spectators and answered questions. Five finalist were chosen to participate in the finals next week July, 24. I love Azul dresses and ended up taking so many pictures I decided to just put a few into a slide show--shown here. For anyone who thinks modeling is easy, I think they should just see how cool and collected these ladies were in lag and under pressure to answer some pretty tough questions. One of the judges, BOSL, Frolic Mills seemed to hand out the toughies. The question of the day was posed to Emma Portilo by Frolic Mills:

"Frolic Mills shouts: If you win this contest, you will get a free pass to MISS VIRTUAL WORLD. Imagine Mami Jewell makes your dress for the MVW final evening and you think it is the ugliest piece of crap ever! - What would you do?"

This had the audience feeling compassion for Ms. Portio calling Mr. Mills Darth Vadar and evil. And while the audience was shouting things like "throw it in the trash", etc. the classy Ms. Portilo didn't miss a beat with her answer.
"Emma Portilo shouts: I am sure, knowing the quality and distinctive tastes of Azul, that would not be the case. However, I would hold my head proudly and style distinctively and proceed with honor for carrying the title of both Miss Azul as well as a Miss Virtual World finalist."

Then he had the guts to ask Vikeejeah Xevion what many were probably wondering:
"Frolic Mills shouts: Vikee hun - I am convinced that passion in what you do is key to sucess. What can you say to convince us that you are in this contest for your passion of the AZUL brand and NOT for some free lindens, clothes and fame?"
Vikee's response via translator:
"Ponchituti Boucher shouts: Vikeejeah Xevion: I think based on my styling in your 105 class and my daily styling in general I have proven I am not in this for the money :). I too was a designer once and I appreciate and admire the skill and artistry of virtual clothing design. I am in love with modeling and have been fortunate enough to briefly get to know Mami and I think she is wonderful. This confirms my desire to represent her and her brand and that is why I wish to win this contest."

Tonight I met up with a few friends to hear Sonicity Fitzroy spin her tunes for a bit of rooftop dancing in prep for the big BOSLradio kickoff tomorrow er rather, today Saturday April 10 starting at 10am SL time. I recieved a really cool invite to the event and made a quick little video out of it to put here. I'm told everyone is welcome and I always feel the more the merrier.
