Deviant Diversions

Lately during my explores I have stumbled upon some fascinating builds and the sim structures were cool too. I'm talking about some explores in beautiful places where I've seen things, avatars, places, a bit "deviant", using their own term, not my judgement. None of these are totally off the charts, so yeah I admit my curious side did peek beyond the flowers a few times without immediately teleporting away. After all I'm just an innocent bystander exploring the grid. Here is a bit of what I've seen lately. Obviously my photos are not going to show exactly everything I saw when peeking through the flowers because so far I've been keeping this blog pg, as I'm pretty much a pg person, so you will have to use the imagination or just visit yourself if inclined and if not inclind then please don't let me lead you this way.

The Abbey

The Abbey. Inside the Abbey the teleporters can take you to the meadow, dungeon (I had to close my eye whoops I mean eyes, in this section), forest, pub/club, orgy beach, hang glide, simball, gallery shopping or you can just walk around and find your own way. There is some fun and "interesting" shopping, a huge sea monster and various other amazing sites, and on the adjacent sim "Deviant" there is the Deviant store and an old run down insane asylum on the hill. I noticed many people in the Abbey had NPIRL or extra body parts and I certainly did not see any monks or nuns or such.

Lettuce

The next deviant sim I explored I went to because I saw a beautiful photo but never did I suspect I'd tp in to the lettuce sim at the Adrastea "Fetish" Cafe and see a chained girl dancing bar top. The cafe itself has such a sweet and innocent adorable Japanese style look to it. Later while exploring this gorgeous sim I'd find a small jail type outbuilding designed for more role play along the deviant lines. It's snowy around the naughty area just is case you want to avoid that area.. or not. The fields seem to cover the various seasons and are just beautiful with pose spots and intans around for dancing etc., but I guess the dancer on the cafe bar and the toys in the jail were my first clues the sim is not as innocent as it first appears. Chouchou music plays in the background and I think this one is actually just a mildly deviant sim with gorgeous scenery. Visit here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Lettuce/152/98/50 or direct link here:

Diesel

Utterly amazing. Diesel sim "Milk and Cream" I found from a pretty photo or possibly a suggestion from someone for pretty pictures and very quickly discovered it is definitely for those who like milk and cream .. and mamories.. and well, cows and other things that have any kind of overly large various body parts and aren't afraid to hide them and um well like to actually have them all out there. This was quickly determined by the shopping area around the landing point. I did wander around and found some beautiful nature sites before locating the barn with milking stations, underground secret rooms for more role play and very very friendly avatars playing around there.

Stone

Lastly I visited an old sim I've been to before because, well I thought it fitting to go on this blog post. This sim is called Sensual Stoneworks, and has some very cool areas to explore, again in a nature setting with a lot of pose balls and other animated "things" to try out, the infamous "womb temple" that I won't describe, and a main huge shopping area. There is also a large building outside on the lands that has clothes, Designs by Fry. In the main shopping area are strange plants, statues, animals etc that apparently like to "play" WITH people. One of the biggest is a creature called Orochi, the Hydra which is a 3 headed beast who apparently likes sacrifices and when he's had his way provides an egg that hatches into a tiny baby Hydra....or so I've heard. The upper floor of the main tower has themed rooms including a serpent room, a library, dragon's den, and some dark siren or mermaid rooms. The exterior was guarded by various interactive statue mythical creatures and animals that also like to play, and the stained glass dome holds two fighting skeletal winged creatures. A very interesting sim if you don't get distracted along the explore. Visit here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sensual%20Stoneworks/152/227/26 or direct link here: SensualStoneworksHere.

The Music and Arts Festival is a true crowd pleaser with so many talented musicians, artists, dancers and bands. You won’t want to miss out on this exciting event – mark your calendars for July 29-31, bring your friends and come along for what is sure to be Second Life’s most popular event of the year!

Duché de Coeur is a ficticious name for the area of western France, that is made up of the real life names Provence, Languedoc, Aquitaine, and Poitou, and further to the north, Normandie and Touraine, and to the far east, Franca Contea. It is an accurate depiction of a world of friendship and romance as it might have been around the Age of Enlightenment. We prefer to think of this as a real life environment with real people, but 225 years ago in an idealistic world where all classes live together in harmony. For more information about the sim, contact Bedrich Panacek or SkyeRyder Varriale.

NORGE
BENEFIT EVENT FOR THE FAMILIES & SURVIVORS OF THE ATTACK ON NORWAY
Location: The Funny Farm Club-http://slurl.com/secondlife/Monaco%20City/122/55/22 direct link: NorwayBenefitHere.
I received some info.today reading in part:

"JULY 31, 2011 @ 3pm-9:00pmslt

All funds raised will be given to support the families of those who have lost their loved ones in this otherwise peaceful country through the Norwegian Embassy in Sweden. Many have lost their lives in this senseless attack in Norway, many of them teenagers on the island camp. At least 91 people died in Norway.
Let Us All make a stand against terrorism around the world by showing your support for the victims of there heinous attacks."

The club owners are adamsky Draconia and Jennifer Gravois and this event contact person is Iga Claawtooth and can each be contacted for more information.
Some of the musicians include: Suzan Littlething, Hellig Melson, Sunrise Rhapsody, Morgan Canare, Karma Auer, Mr.jonze, Rocky Toocool, Samm Qendra, clay Harsley, VERONICA WEKSLER, Sid Slade, Premium Composer, Dallas Winslet, Justme Carlucci, Lesther Osterham, Henry Goodiffe, Toxic Darkmatter, Jasher Faith, Zed Essex, OneSummer Oh, JavaJoe Macintyre, CHIP TAKCAS, and others.

When checking out the club/event info. I spoke with Cleopatra Carfield who confirmed the details. She herself has lost 5 loved ones in the tragedy and has a goddaughter fighting for her life. This in a country know for peacekeeping and the Noble Peace Prize. This is a event for a good cause, check it out if you are able.

(Cleopatra's profile has a section that reads, "July 22nd 2011 Norway had its worst day since the 2'nd World War...
In a VISCIOUS AND CRUEL ATTACK our country lost a lot of wonderful human beings....
We will NEVER forget this terrible attack on our people!!!!
BUT THIS IS NOT GOING TO BREAK US DOWN - WE ARE JUST GOING TO LOVE MORE AND BE MORE TOGETHER! FIGHT MORE FOR DEMOCRASY AND BE MORE OPEN!!!!
FOR THE SAKE OF THOSE WE LOST AND AS A NATION WE ARE STANDING STRONG!!!!!!!

My very good friend, Iga, has put out a donation place at his shop... and everything that comes in goes directly to the Norwegian Embassy in Stockholm... You can also get a norwegiag flag here and teeshirt.
Thank you so much, my friend, for reaching out like this - As a norwegian I love you for it...") Iga is Sweedish but took initiative to set up the memorial area reportedly via the Norwegian embassy and has also lost a good friend.

There is an associated "Friends of Norway" group to join if interested.

Relay For Life Closing Ceremony 2011- $369,069 USD Raised!

RFL BOSL Campsite-Best Camptsite Award Winners
(BOSL campsite, Frolic Mills, BOSL CEO, Irishgent Resident, Mimi Juneau, Blackbarbie Bravin)
RFL has been blogged, Flickr'd and talked about for months, actually year round in SL, as this is an annual HUGE fundraiser. But I decided to go ahead and blog it one more time since it's such an amazing fundraiser that helps so many people in real life plus they said there were over 178 people in the area of the closing ceremony. They had 24 hours of entertainment at the RFL general track area, amazing builds, inspirational volunteers and today the closing ceremony. Thank yous were made and shout outs given to the main supporters. Team campsite awards were given out.
rfl 178 ppl at closing ceremony_003
There were 42 sims and many builds on the sims and track area. BOSL won first place in one of the best campsite build categories. Most laps award went to jerrazia Lowel. (I'm sure I totally spelled that name wrong and they didn't say how many laps which I wonder about) MamaP Beerbaum and Dwen Dooly, organizers spoke along with others. There was a table onstage with an empty chair representing the lost ones. Honor was giving to their struggles and memory. The 2011 theme was "Seasons of Hope" and at the close of the ceremony it was stated 369,062 USD was raised by the close. Fantastic SL people.. who says we are just gamers... we are people with heart!

A Very Fun Dress-"Minnie" by Fellini Couture

Mysterious Disappearing Brigadoon Village and Caledon Steampunk Sim

Visit here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Caledon%20Brigadoon/128/128/23 or direct link here: BrigadoonVillageHere.
Brigadoon Village
Brigadoon Village.. After it Faded
(Village area after fade)

2:12 pm my time (12:12pmSLT) July 4TH I stood in Brigadoon Village and watched it fade quickly away in whipsy puffs of fog right before my eyes! The entire little village gone with a fade, not a poof. Geoffrey Xeonbuilder was there with a man body and clothes but bird head.. and when I asked he explained this is Brigadoon Village. It is only visible for a few hours each month and follows the book/movie story. I asked how to find it again and he said it's best to pay attention to the time it appeared and faded. I don't know when it appeared as I had only been there maybe ten minutes, but I certainly know when it faded. Only the grassy park with deer, snakes and badgers and trees remains nestled in a small mountain surrounded circular area with a tiny bridge crossing the small river that runs along one side in an area in the otherwise busy Caledon Brigadoon steampunk sim. There were a few other avatars, along with myself and one visitor exclaimed about the village disappearing and how they missed their photo op. What I did see before it faded was a small village with houses, surrounding a pillar with a rabbit sculpture atop. I was lucky enough to capture a few photos.

Of course I needed more history on this mysterious village and went to Wiki which states, "Brigadoon is a musical with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Songs from the musical, such as "Almost Like Being in Love" have become standards.
It tells the story of a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years, though to the villagers, the passing of each century seems no longer than one night. The enchantment is viewed by them as a blessing rather than a curse, for it saved the village from destruction. According to their covenant with God, no one from Brigadoon may ever leave, or the enchantment will be broken and the site and all its inhabitants will disappear into the mist forever. Two American tourists, lost in the Scottish Highlands, stumble upon the village just as a wedding is about to be celebrated, and their arrival has serious implications for the village's inhabitants.
The original production opened on Broadway in 1947 and ran for 581 performances. Brigadoon then received a West End production opening in 1949 that ran for 685 performances, and many revivals followed. A 1954 film version starred Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. A 1966 television version starred Robert Goulet and Peter Falk." Wiki here: See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brigadoon

Caledon Oxbridge is a pleasure in itself and well worth a visit with or without the mysterious village present. It is home to the independent state of Caledon's Community Gateway University of Caledon Oxbridge, which also hosts a fencing team in this Victorian micronation with steampunk elements. Near the disappearing village I found the adorable Hummingbird ballroom, a glass window enclosed build that has many adorable dances, some of which I've not seen before in SL. Ravelli Ormstein, a small bear of an avatar and a University professor at Oxbridge University in Caledon, provided me with some history/notecards upon my request about the sim. He said he's been a resident for 2 years. He said Caledon Oxbridge University is usually the heart of Caledon and a good place to start. Desmond Shang is mayor account. Ravelli also spoke of the Hall of Caledon that provides a lot of info about this micro nation and he offered this web page of additional information. http://www.steamlander.com/forums/ and the steampunk Wiki: http://www.steampunkwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page
Caledon Brigadoon
The history note card provides additional information stating Caledon is a 19th centruy Steampunk Victorian micronation existing within Agni, or the Main grid. The terrain is mostly towns, forests, mountain ranges and countryside mostly interconnected by rail, carriage and airship and houses houndreds upon hundreds of active residents. There is a Royal Caledon Air Force, libraries, and Oxbridge. Residents of the area are members or citizens of the group "Independent State of Caldeon" and it is a invitation-only group, but membership is not difficult to obtain by asking a citizen who can get you in with no requirements.

Here is a direct link to the Oxbridge University too: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Caledon%20Oxbridge/251/131/22 direct link here: OxbridgeUniversityHere. Besides the university I was told some of the other special special sim sites and activities include: the sandbox, welcome center, Magellan Templemore, Fencing, Chess Park, Victoria City, hospital, blue Mermaid, Falling Anvil, Gaiety Theater, Pub Dodo Redux, World's End, numerous art galleries, libraries and museums, including an H.G. Wells Memorial Branch Library, various areas of site seeing such as the Airbase "Iron Cloud", Blimps, Mines, Graveyard, Royal Society for Natural Sciences, Rail Station, etc, a great number of intriguing shops and many many other places, events and sites to behold. I was very impressed with this large area and I will definitely return for hours of adventure. Don't miss out.

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day

One of the things I love about SL... meeting and getting to know people from around the world. Happy Canada Day to my many Canadian neighbors to the north that I have met and grown to love through SL. Photo is from Creative Commons http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Free+Creative+Pictures+canada&view=detail&id=776DA1DE4313A1A4195A2221D3EB6BB5931C7646&first=301&FORM=IDFRIR

On Canada Day, Canadians celebrate the day the British North America Act was created by the Canadian federal government on July 1, 1867.

"British North America Act, 1867Main article: Constitution Act, 1867
The act, also known as the BNA Act, comprises a major part of the Constitution of Canada. The Act entails the original creation of a federal dominion and sets the framework for much of the operation of the Government of Canada, including its Federal structure, the House of Commons, the Senate, the justice system, and the taxation system. It received its current name in 1982, with the patriation of the constitution (having originally been enacted by the Parliament of the United Kingdom). Amendments were also made at this time: section 92A was added, giving the Provinces greater control over non-renewable natural resources. In 1982, this Act was renamed the Constitution Act, 1867" Per Wikki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_North_America_Acts

Thanks!

Well, I guess this is a good time to thank my SL friends, blog readers and Flickr friends. I've had so much fun with so many people I've met in this virtual world. Yesterday was my real life birthday and I didn't mention it because I tend to keep RL and SL pretty separate as much as possible. But my RL/SL sis, Piper, decorated my new SL house up pretty with balloons, cakes etc., and I received some awesome gifts, cards and greetings from some great friends, especially Kathy and Cafi, and I had a ton of SL Facebook greetings too. Thank you all so much! I'm copying my good friend Ticklemeorage, AKA, Ant or Toogy's Flickr greeting here for my safe keeping forever and ever-her's is animated if you want to check her cool Flickr stream that is loaded with fun pics and videos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/49400843@N02/5887492861/ or direct link here: AntHere

Explore Crommhold

My Movie Maker hasn't been working for me for about a week and so today I cleared out some old footage and it seems to have helped some and I was able to render a short video of the fairy mushroom garden in Crommhold, a beautiful sim that is a "must see" for magic lovers in SL. This is one tiny piece of the large scenic sim of beauty to explore which includes this area as well as caves, flower fields, dance areas, animated poses, giant ants, bees that do chase and sting, huge waterfalls, tree houses with a wonderful library, statues, many stray lights, butterflies, and even a few creepy places, etc. Some things are somewhat hidden which makes the explore all the better. Anyway.., this is an adorable sim called Crommhold at: slurl.com/secondlife/Gift%20of%20Love/191/142/22
The music is one of my favs, Selena Gomez's Magic that I often use for my SL magic : )

And They're Off!-Second Life Horse Racing

Horse Racing

Last night I enjoyed some SL horse racing at Champions race track at Creeds Paradise. I was impressed at how well organized things were considering I hadn't previously heard about SL horse racing and learned these races have been in operation since late 2010. The commentary was great and I loved the jokes from spectators regarding the unusual *cough* horse names! (You had to be there) I was told the horses can be bred for this racing. I neglected to get a note card and after chatting briefly with a few friends there, I quickly became engaged in the races and once done I left without much information and more questions about how it all works. I entered the stands late but was in time to see a couple of races including the final run where Frolic Mills, CEO of BOSL, debuted his horse, Zodiac, with jockey Jeanette Finchy for a win in their category. The races are categorized and people can place bets. The seating area was impressive and there was a nice crowd including many people I know. I snapped a few quick shots and figured I'd post a bit here as there are regular races that seem like a fun adventure. A sign indicated the next race will be held Saturday at 12 slt. I'm sure I will check this out again. Unfortunately I don't have a SLurl at the moment but can add one later or if interested search Champions racing at Creeds Paradise. (Back on Saturday for some more racing and the link here you go: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Creeds%20Paradise/24/143/32 or direct link here: RacingHere.)

UWA 3D Open Art Challenge Plus "Angry Gods" by FreeWee Ling

UWA
(The opening portal)

The UWA (University of Western Australia) 3d challenge is in full voting swing-see below for more info. But also at the UWA Virlantis sim is an exhibit by FreeWee Ling called, "Angry Gods- An Apocalyptic Vision". I wanted to see this before work today so popped over with the intent of a run through to see if it warranted blogging or further exploring later, and it did. My only disappointment was that in my limited morning time I soon discovered my photos were not saved properly. When taking shots, they appeared fine on my monitor but in the computer they lost details, so I resorted to some screen shots just for the blog today. I will work on photos later, but after reading the instructional note card for the exhibit perhaps the way it is made has something to do with the way the graphics photograph. It was recommended to basically turn everything max. I did this and it was pretty much a WOW! factor. Things were larger than life with lots of fire, and colors and scenery and stuff. So after reading the note and trying to get a few shots I gave up on following the story around the area for lack of time. I could see it was going to be a bit of a journey so I will go back later, but leave the info. I did get here today.

(These are HUGE.. just saying)

Some of the instructions stated:.."These instructions are essential for fully appreciating the experience you are about to have. ..use the maximum graphics settings...widen your camera view. Set your draw distance to AT LEAST 256 meters. There are a number of scenic overlooks here. Set particles to the maximum your computer can handle. Turn up Sounds. The music stream is optional. There is no media stream..."
"THE STORY:
CAUTION!!! Things fall from the sky and other things may not be as stable as they appear.
It’s the end of the world.
This is not a maze.
There are no choices here.
Your fate is sealed.
You cannot turn back.
Follow the path.
Do not deviate.
If you get stuck or lost, deal with it.
It will do you no good to complain.
Keep your head up.
Look ahead and above, often.
Watch the sky.
Be prepared to run or take cover.
..-FreeWee Ling"

(O, yeah.. I deviated from the path as usual)
